“Do you know what it means to miss New Orleans?” Fi Viney Dashing pianist and New Orleans native Harry Connick Jr. asks me this question every time I play the song. Until just recently, I had to confess I didn’t know what it meant – but a recent trip changed all that. N ow, there are many things that I do miss about New Orleans – even though I only had a few days to get to know this vibrant and colourful southern city. You’d be hard pressed to find a place as intriguing, charming and resilient as ‘Nola’, as it is affectionately called by the locals. But there has been chaos in the city’s recent past.
