When’s the right time for a hearing evaluation? P robably sooner than you think! People who exper ience hear ing loss often find ways to compensate – but sometimes we adapt so well we don’t know what we’re missing. Compensating for hearing loss can lead to physical and emotional strain, diminishing important things in life like engaging with friends, family and colleagues. Modern hearing technology can revive social life and make things like concerts, telephone and TV more rewarding experiences. To find out what you might be missing, contact a hearing care professional. AudioClinic Tasmania can help – call them on 1800 057 220. Your health insurance review Here are some tips on reviewing your cover to make sure you’re getting the best deal for yourself and your family. Tip 1: Consider an excess Adding an excess to your cover could save you hundreds of dollars a year on a single, couple or family membership. Tip 2: Exclusions Think about your current situation and what you may need to protect your health in future. If you’re young, you probably don’t need cover for joint replacements and cataract surgery. Look for products that exclude them. Tip 3: Discounts Some health insurers offer discounts for different pay ment options so make sure you’re getting the best deal. Tip 4: Por tability No need to re-serve waiting periods for anything you’re already covered for, provided you are transferring to the same level of cover and have already served the waiting periods with your current health fund. Tip 5: Special offers There are plenty of special offers in the market at the moment. Switching health insurers is easy. Drop into an RACT branch, call 13 27 22 or visit ract.com.au /healthinsurance to see the great premiums R ACT Health Insurance has for R ACT members*. A member suggested we issue this reminder after he returned a car with considerably less than a full tank and was charged $1.99 cents per litre at the retur ning point! Most Australian hire car companies have such a policy in Australia, but as our member pointed out, sometimes it is not possible or convenient to fill up on the trip back. Our member described the experience as a nasty surprise! Nasty surprise for car hirer Life on the move February / March 2012 23
