In Tasmania today Minotaur roars into the RTBG T he annual Big Monkey production in the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens is a favourite with many Tasmanians and visitors. This year it’s the story of the mythical half-bull, half-man M inotaur. Minotaur Quest – the Legend of Young Theseus runs from Wednesday 4 January to Sunday 29 January. Weekday shows (Wednesday to Friday) commence at 11 am; there are two shows on Saturdays (2 pm and 5 pm); and a 2 pm Sunday show. A great story, colourful characters, lots of song, dance and fun are all to be found in this show, which features a strong cast including John X, Jeff Michel, Carmen Falk, Lucy Wilkins and Rob Manion. Tickets can be pre-booked through Centertainment or purchased at the main gate of the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens from an hour before each performance. Meander Valley memories Long-standing RACT member Berwyn Huett sent us these old photos of the family’s Deloraine ser vice station and some classic ads from the late 1940s. (That’s him, aged about 7 or 8 with his dad Jim and staff). Berwyn and brother Kevin managed the Service Station for about 14 years after Jim died – Kevin still owns and manages the business. “We were the RACT road service agent in Deloraine for many years, and after I left the motor trade, I was the R ACT office agent in the town,” Berwyn told Journeys.
