As the proverb says, ‘the early bird catches the worm’ – get in before others and you w ill benefit! This certainly applies to planning your holiday ar rangements. Do your planning well ahead and book your holidays early and you can enjoy substantial savings. The European Earlybird season starts in mid September and generally extends through until early December. Many airlines, along w ith coach touring and car hire companies, all offer early booking and early payment deals. Deals often come packaged together with free pre-tour accommodation, free airport transfers, free car upgrades and other bonus inclusions. Coach tour ing companies offer savings of up to 10% off the brochure tour pr ice by booking well ahead. Airlines may offer fares hundreds of dollars cheaper than their normal published ones. As I am writing this article, airfares from Melbourne to Europe start from $1699 per person retur n including all ta xes. Make sure you call one of our RACT Travelworld offices before the deals expire – be an Earlybird! Travel tips • Always remember to take spare luggage tags with you as they do get torn off. Try to use tags with a cover over them to protect your personal details from prying eyes. Label your luggage with your onward address each time you travel to a new destination. The last thing you want is for your luggage to be sent home when you are on your way to New York! • Advise your private health insurer if you are travelling overseas for an extended period of time. Quite often you can place your payments on hold when providing proof that you hold comprehensive travel insurance. • Always tel l your bank or credit un ion where you are travelling and for how long. It will stop them cancelling your card as you will be using it outside of the normal usage patter n. They all came to check out the latest ships and destinations and to take advantage of the savings to be made by booking at a designated Cruise Sale Day. Eleven Cr uiseline wholesalers representing a multitude of ships and itineraries were on hand to give the best advice, along with 16 of our knowledgeable and dedicated travel consultants, all hooked into their laptops ready to secure the bookings on the spot. Unique one-day-only savings were available, with onboard credits and half price deposits on most cruises. Our inhouse cafe Hybrid was open for those wishing to peruse their new cruise brochures over a coffee and a snack. It was a very enjoyable and successful day and we thank everyone who came along. We plan to make it an annual outing, bigger and better each year. R ACT Travelworld has great group rate depar tures for 2012/2013.
