Journeys : Jun Jul 2011
Photographer Michael Gullan specialises in surf, landscape and wedding photography. His search for quality waves and great images has taken him across Australia and around the globe. Through Michael Gullan’s lens During a two-year surfing journey he spent time in the South Pacific, South Africa, Europe, Canada and the USA. He met his wife Maryka (herself a keen surfer) while living and surfing in Newquay, Cornwall. Upon retur ning to Australia, Michael and Maryka took off on a two-year campervan trip to surf and photograph their way around Australia. Today, Michael ’s passion for photography and his love of the ocean, combined with a strong desire to capture special photographic moments, finds him constantly exploring nature’s playground. His aim is to have the photograph speak to the viewer w ithout the aid of digitised after-shoot image processing – the image should be what was seen and captured at the time. The photographs in this Journeys portfolio ref lect Michael ’s philosophy and passion for capturing those magic moments. Michael and his family are currently living in South Arm, Tasmania, where there are endless options for his photography. His website ww w.surfscape.com.au is an online galler y where you can browse, enjoy and purchase images.
