Travelling on the open road can be dangerous – but driving in an unsafe vehicle on our roads and highways can end in disaster. Thrifty CEO Bryn McGoldrick says that safety is front and centre of the company’s corporate goal. “From vehicle selection to regular, str ingent safety checks, our mission is to provide clean, safe and reliable vehicles to the travelling public in Tasmania,” he says. “At a minimum we purchase vehicles w ith four-star ANCAP ratings, but it’s our ultimate goal to achieve a five-star rating across our entire fleet within the next twelve to eighteen months. Coupled w ith our 30-point safety and cleanliness check we are confident that members and customers will have a wor ry-free experience at Thrifty.” As Thrifty’s f leet is continually upgraded, more of the vehicles are fitted with the latest additional features such as side airbags and stability control. This is even more impor tant when Thrifty’s clients are often driving in unfamiliar vehicles on unfamiliar roads. Thr ifty’s staff are happy to spend extra time with customers to ensure they get to know their hire car and the roads they will travel on. They also pass on impor tant tips for safe travel – such as suggesting that clients tur n off their mobile phones to avoid distraction. “If dr ivers do need to use their phone during the jour ney, they should pull over in a safe area,” Mr McGoldrick says. “It’s all about mitigating risk – we see it as part of our job to ensure our customers return home safely to their families after enjoying a memorable holiday driving our vehicles.” Safety first with Thrifty To find out more about the vehicles in Thrifty’s fleet, or about the year-round offers and seasonal specials for RACT members, visit the RACT website www.ract.com.au or call RACT Travelworld on 1300 368 111. 66 April / May 2011 *Offer valid for completed rentals before 30 September 2011.
