Journeys : Feb March 2011
42 February / March 2011 This year there will be 18 home and away rounds and four weeks of finals. Whilst round one of the 2011 Tasmanian State League officially begins on April 8, a blockbuster match from round three of the competition will be hosted at KGV between traditional rivals Glenorchy and Clarence on Saturday, April 2. The Tasmanian State League is not just another footy competition. It’s a real community endeavour, and RACT Insurance is excited to again be associated with AFL Tasmania for the coming season. RACT Insurance became involved with the new state league in 2009 with the creation of the Player of the Year award, and this successful partnership will be taken to a new level in 2011. Last year’s winner was Launceston captain, Scott Stephens – a 112-game veteran of the club, and a worthy recipient. But RACT Insurance’s involvement doesn’t stop there. RACT Footy Tipping is recognised by AFL Tasmania as the official footy tipping competition for Tasmania’s premier football contest. Not only does RACT Insurance offer fantastic prizes each week for the official tipping contest, but they also supply the runners’ uniforms for all Tasmanian State League clubs. State footy’s back! Bigger and better than ever. Round One of the 2011 Tasmanian State League officially begins on April 8 at Aurora Stadium, and RACT Insurance is proud to once again play a part in this fantastic, community-based competition. See page 36 for details on RACT Footy Tipping 2011.
