10 October / November 2010 In our community 87th Annual General Meeting The 87th Annual General Meeting, which will include the election of members to the R ACT Board, will be held at R ACT House, cnr Mur ray and Patrick Streets, Hobart, on Wednesday 10 November 2010, commencing at 3.30 pm. This year, the election of members will necessitate a ballot as there are five nominations for the four positions. The four retiring members who are eligible for re- election are Edward Charles Best AM, Peter Alliston Dixon, Robin Harold Holmes and Roger Sidney Locke. In addition to the retiring members, a nomination has been received from souther n R ACT member, Toni Louise Sydes. A profile of each candidate appears opposite. (The RACT Board has 12 members, each of whom is elected for a three-year term. The four members of the Board who have been longest in office shall retire but they may seek re-election for a further three-year term, providing they qualify under the age requirements). How to vote The ballot for the four positions on the Club's gover ning body will be held between 11 October and 12 noon on 3 November 2010. The result will be an nounced at the Annual General Meeting on 10 November 2010. RACT members entitled to vote in the election are ser vice members (Roadside Advantage/Roadside Ultimate), social members, honorary life members, paid life members and the nominated person holding a fleet membership. Members must be financial at the time of voting. An application for ballot paper appears opposite and should be delivered to the R ACT Head Office, cor ner Murray and Patrick Streets, Hobart, personally or by mail. Applications are also available at RACT branches. (Where an application is made at a branch or through the post, a ballot paper and supporting documentation will be mailed to the member upon confirmation of eligibility.) Members applying personally at the head office will still need to complete an application form and, following a check of his/her eligibility, will be handed a ballot paper. Applications for ballot papers to be sent by post close at 5 pm on 27 October 2010 and personal applications close at Hobart head office at 10 am on 3 November 2010. The Returning Officer is the Club's Group Chief Executive/ Company Secretary, Greg Goodman, and any member requiring further infor mation about the election procedures should contact Mr Goodman's office on (03) 6236 4301. At this year's Annual General Meeting, members will be asked to approve a number of amendments to the Constitution, one of which relates to the ballot process. If approved, from 2011 onwards when an election of members to the Board is necessary, all financial members will receive a ballot paper and supporting documentation in the October/November issue of Motor News Journeys.
