We have noticed over time that the plastic valance under the front bumper has started to grow some fur from constant r ubbing on anything but a flat driveway entrance. This is a little surprising, given the short body over-hang in the front. Ow ning a vehicle long-ter m will lead to the inevitable washing and vacuuming. Despite the obvious work created, this is an opportune time to have a look at the fit and finish of a vehicle up-close and personal to find where the dirt, dust and grime accumulates in those hard-to-access places. We've put almost 8000 kilometres on the odometer, most of them travelled in the city and suburbs, where the Cerato would find its natural home. The occasional country trip was fine on the highway, while Tasmania's winding B-roads really challenge the vehicle's chassis dynamics, ride and handling. I can again report that we've had no need to visit the dealer for warranty items -- there's not a rattle, bang or squeak to be heard. 28 August / September 2010
