Insurance matters A regular column from RACT Insurance CEO Trent Sayers Life on the move 2010 celebrates the 25th anniversary of the R ACT as an insurance provider to Tasmanians. In that time we've serviced the needs of hundreds of thousands of Tasmanians and we've grow n continuously. Importantly, we're locally-ow ned and operated. We provide insurance ser vices specifically for Tasm anian needs, with a local call centre and local people on the ground to ser ve our policy holders. Go back a century and there was a range of Tasmanian insurance companies. Regrettably, that has all changed in recent decades. R ACT Insurance keeps the flag flying for local insurance for Tasmanian needs. We're introducing new elements to Silver Savers, our program for customers aged over 50 and not working full-time. It already provides discounts of up to 20%. Now we've introduced an opportunity for Silver Saver customers to combine all their policies into one personal insurance portfolio and save an extra 10% on the already discounted premium. Personal insurance portfolios have the added advantage of convenience. Instead of juggling multiple policies, all your in surance needs are wrapped into a parcel that provides common renewal dates, ease of changes to your policy, one renewal document and savings on your insurance. Existing Silver Savers with multiple policies who are eligible for the Silver Saver Personal Insurance Portfolio will automatically be transitioned on renewal and can begin benefiting from the convenience and savings on offer. It's part of our commitment to tailoring personal in surance solutions to meet the needs of our Tasmanian customers. At home, be vigilant with the use and maintenance of wood heaters. House fire claims -- sometimes involving the loss of the entire home -- increase during winter, with wood heaters a leading cause of such fires. Finally, our claims experience shows that drivers sometimes str uggle on wet and icy roads. Most of these crashes could be avoided by driving to the conditions, and reducing speed. Rear end collisions are also common at this time of the year. So drive to the conditions and increase the distance between yourself and the car in front. Buying a new or used car has never been easier. autoSEARCH Tasmania will: • Find the type of vehicle you require • Arrange a discounted RACT Vehicle Inspection, if required • Negotiate a special ROADSIDE cardholder's price, including your trade-in • Arrange a manufacturer's or dealer's warranty on most vehicles sold. This independent service is free to RACT ROADSIDE cardholders. Statewide 0418123 060 Hobart 6231 9992 • Launceston 6334 3965 autoSEARCH autoSEARCH 23 August / September 2010
