Home loan shopping tips Buying property is one of the biggest commitments you'll ever make -- so when it comes to choosing a loan, it's important to do your research and seek the best information. B&E Branch Manager Gaye Bryan says that there are several important steps you can take in preparation. "Save as much deposit as possible before applying for the loan, generally between 10% and 20% of the purchase price as a guide," Gaye says. "Make a budget before getting the loan and stick to it.
