"They remember us as the tow n's Toyota dealership too," Pat says. "But these days, mechanical repairs keep us busy, as well as our ser vice to members as the district's RACT Roadside agent." Denis Wright Auto Repairs Electra Place, Mornington Phone 6244 7300 Denis and Lisa Wright moved their auto repairs business into spacious new premises at Mornington last November and business has been brisk ever since. They're delighted that so many long-ter m clients from their previous Geilston Bay garage have followed them to Mornington -- it proves that when you find someone you tr ust, it doesn't matter where they work. Denis and Lisa have two full-time qualified mechanics, including Corey Barker (left), who has been with them for two years. Like all up-to-date automotive repair businesses, Central Coast Motors has access to sophisticated technology for engine management. "It's a steep lear ning cur ve, but a critical part of our work these days," Stephen says. As well as general automotive repairs, Denis specialises in auto-electrical work. You'll find them near the end of Electra Place, off Cambridge Road near the Mornington roundabout on Hobart's Easter n Shore. Launceston Exhaust Centre 141 Wellington St, Launceston Phone 6334 1014 The twisted form s of pipes and mufflers hang from the roof at the Launceston Exhaust Centre -- with its hoists, tools and diagnostic equipment, the place looks pretty much like any modern automotive workshop -- and indeed, it offers a full range of top-quality mechanical services, maintenance and repairs, in addition to their skills in the specialised area of exhaust systems. But there's a surprise in the showroom next door -- that's where Geoff and Gabrielle Bomhoff display their range of gleaming new motorcycles, quad bikes and scooters. Imported from China under their own SRM brand name, the two and four-wheelers have been a fast-growing part of the business that Geoff 's father founded 45 years ago. "We get a phone call from our representative in China around 12pm every day, to keep us in touch with what's happening," Gabrielle (above) says. "Geoff and I visited the factory a couple of years ago and it was a fascinating experience." 37 February / March 10
