Journeys : October November 2009
Tasmanian wedge-tailed eagles capture live prey such as rabbits, birds, small wallabies and other small mammals -- but they also feed on roadkill. This puts them at risk of collision with motor vehicles. It is estimated that up to 50 eagles could be killed each year by cars. Renewable energy generator Roaring 40s is funding a project to place war ning signs that will alert drivers to the possible presence of eagles on the road. The signs are being designed in consultation with the Department of Infrastr ucture Energy and Resources. David Jamrozik Protecting our wedge-tailed eagles RACT forges home finance link with B&E RACT members will benefit from a new partnership between the Club and long-standing Tasmanian financial institution B&E Personal Banking. Our Group Chief Executive Greg Goodman says that the connection is a natural fit for both companies. "Both of us are ser vice-oriented and locally-focused, with long histories of operation in the state," Mr Goodman says. B&E CEO Paul Ranson agrees, saying that Tasmanians value personal service. "Through our extensive branch networks, both organisations are committed to delivering this style of ser vice," he says. "As a member-ow ned financial organisation, B&E's focus is on providing value-for-money retail banking products and services." "A good example of this is B&E's market-leading home loan Topline, which was recently rated in Australia's Top 3 (non- banks) by SmartInvestor Maga zine," Mr Ranson says. There's a special benefit for R ACT members -- as part of the partnership with R ACT, B&E is waiving the $650 loan application fee. For more infor mation about B&E's full range of home loans, or to apply for a home loan, visit w w w.ract.com.au and follow the prompts to home loans, call into your local R ACT Branch or phone 13 2722. n ngh g Life on the move October / November 09 30
